» 2026 ECCBA Champion of Champions

The 2026 Eastern Counties Champion of Champions was hosted by Norfolk at Littleport on 10th May.

FOURS - Karen Hubbard, Bruce Miller, Frank Wilkin, Adam Hubbard
Wins over Essex (8-4) and Bedfordshire (10-4) put them top after 2 games, tied with Cambridgeshire. But they then had back-to-back losses against Norfolk (8-15) and Herts (11-7) which put them out of contention.

Their final game was against Cambridgeshire who were undefeated and only need a draw to take the title, despite theat Suffolk produced easily their best result of the day with a 15-2 win that meant they finished third, 2 points being Hertfordshire who took the title.

TRIPLES - Oscar Mew, Paul Daniels, Tony Stevenson
Having narrowly lost their opening game against Essex (6-8), they won their second over Bedfordshire (7-4) and then took an even narrower win over Norfolk (9-8). That put them in a 4-way tie for the lead with Herts, Cambs and Essex.

Their 4th game was easily their best result so far, a 15-4 win over Herts which was enough to put them top by just 2 shots over Cambridgeshire, who would be their final opponents, meaning that a draw would be enough.

They were off to the best of starts, leading 7-1 at one stage, but they then proceeded to let their opponents back into the game, fell behind and suffered a 9-10 loss, leaving them in second behind winners Cambridgeshire.

PAIRS - Neil Jolly & Tom Runnacles
They started the day with an 8-3 win over Essex, then beat Bedfordshire 13-5 and by the time the beat Norfolk 8-2 they led the way by 2 points with only one other team, Herts, having won more than one game.

Their next game was against their nearest rivals, and with the way things stood a win would give them the title with a game to go.

It was a close one, but they took the win 7-5 and with it the title. The final game was another comfortable victory, 10-4 against Cambridgeshire to make them the only team witha prefect record in any of the day's disciplines.

The win meant that Neil becomes only the second person to have won all four ECCBA Champion of Champions titles.

SINGLES - Rita Runnacles
Without a series of slow starts to her games, Rita's day could have been quite different, she fell behind at the start against Essex, clawed her way back, but lost 6-10. However she went from 5-2 down against Bedfordshire to win 8-7 in her next game.

Against Norfolk she went from 6-1 down to 7-6 up but lost 9-7. She was 6-0 down against Herts, pulled back to 6-5 but lost the last end to go down 7-5.

Her final game against Cambridgeshire started much better, after 4 ends it was 2-2, but the next two ends were a disaster and she ended up losing the game 12-4.

Unfortunately that left her in 6th place, but only on the basis of shots against. Pete Cook of Hertfordshire retained his title.

Overall
Suffolk were in contention throughout the day.

After two rounds they were tied at the top with Essex. After 3 rounds they were tied with Herst on 16 points, with Cambs on 14. Those three would remain close for the rest of the day.

With one round to go Cambridgeshire led with 21 points while Suffolk and Herts were on 20, but Cambs and Suffolk then proceeded to take points off each other allowing Herts to come through to win it.

Herts finished on 26 points, Cambridgeshire 25 points and Suffolk on 24.
