The final started well for
Barking who picked up 3 on the first end. However Brockley pulled
it back, taking one shot on each of the next 2 ends, to trail
by just a single shot. But Barking restored their 3 shot lead
on the 4th end. The next end went to Brockley and the lead was
down again to 2 shots. The penultimate end saw Barking one shot
up with their skip still having the final wood still to bowl.
However instead of taking the shot that would have taken him
into the last end with a 3 shot lead, he took the decision to
try and remove Brockley's nearest wood. However what he actually
managed to do was to remove his own wood and hand the end to
the opposition, leaving Brockley just 1 shot in arrears going
into the final end. A good decision as far as their opponents
and the spectators were concerned, not so much for him and his
team. But luckily the final end went the way of Barking, negating
the previous end's misstep and seeing them home to a 6-4 win.
