On Sunday 25 March the Suffolk
county team hosted their Random Triples competition at Needham
Market Community Centre.
There was the maximum entry
of 96 bowlers, each bowling 5 games with and against different
bowlers. It was two points for a win, one for a draw and the
individual with the most number of points (with shots scored
being the deciding factor if necessary) would be the overall
winner.
After everyone had bowled two
games there were still 25 bowlers who had not been beaten.
With everyone having bowled
three games the unbeaten bowlers had reduced to just 14. Malcolm
Tricker (Claydon) led the way with six points (38 shots), followed
by Ann Hathaway (Hundon) and Neil Tuckey (Withersfield).
After four games played Ann
was the new leader, with Malcolm having lost a game. Also on
maximum points were Ellen Grube (Hundon), Don Allum (Great Blakenham)
and Neil Tuckey. They were closely followed by Stephen Frost
(Reepham) and Sally Goodrich (Claydon) who both had seven points.
With a game to play, the overall winner could only come from
these six bowlers.
In the last set of games Ann
finally lost her unbeaten record and Don could only manage a
draw. With Ellen and Neil both winning and finishing on the maximum
ten points, shots scored would decide the winner.
With Ellen scoring 44 shots to Neil's 39, it was Ellen Grube
who was declared the 2012 Random Triples champion.
