Bury League v Waveney League

On Sunday 6th October the Bury
League played there annual match against the South Norfolk Carpet
Bowls Federation (Waveney League).
It was Burys turn to host the event and a big thank you
to all the clubs taking part: for providing the refreshments,
draw prizes and a special mention to the clubs who provided the
carpets: Tostock, Cockfield, Whelnetham and Stanningfield.
Peter and Jill from Risby were kind enough to open the Hall let
us use Risbys Carpets, they were helpful and available
throughout the day. Thanks again to them.
Each League provided eight teams of four bowlers: Bury were represented
by the top six in the Premier Division: Brockley, Stanningfield,
Hundon, Cockfield, Withersfield and Whelnetham together with
Tostock and Barrow winners of the East and West Division.
The format was four rounds of six games, nine ends per game with
each team playing three games, two points were awarded for a
win and one point for a draw.
The first round got away well on time, seeing Bury take a 8 point
to 4 point lead.
The second round was South Norfolks they ended up wining
the session: 7 points to 5 points.
The third round ended all square 6 points each.
So into the final round with everything to play for, but Bury
really turned on the style, winning the session 10 points to
2 points.
So Bury retained the Trophy with a total of 29 Points to 19 points.
Well done to all teams who played their part in an enjoyable
days bowling and a mention to Cockfield and Welnetham who
ended the day undefeated.
